CIAO FAMIGLIA E AMICI!!

We have a new mission rule where we can email everyone and anyone! Yippee!
This week is the VERY special 3-week anniversary of . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . TAKING COLD SHOWERS! We are still working out some kinks in the new apartment. This may have been part of the cause for us having the FLU this past week. No fun. At least spring is in the air!!!

In other news, beautiful, beautiful things are happening in Bergamo town. The anziani are baptizing a Bolivian family into our branch on Thursday!!! On Monday we were in Verona and tomorrow we will be going to Milan for a sorella conference. YES! That means I get to see my Sorelle Bush and Durfee!!!!!! And we get to eat Sorella Wolffgramms homemade cooking!! On Friday we are having a huge 3-ward activity in the church. The theme is "Far West" and people are required to come in cowboy clothes. Annnnnnd there will be a mechanical bull! This thing is going to be great.
Honestly I feel like this week wasn’t even real. Between being sick, sleeping, running for busses, teaching lessons, sleep, church, sleep, and lessons, (breathe) we still had a successful week. How do you spell succcesfull? I am offically unsuccesfull; Italian has butchered my spelling capabilities. Mom, I dare you NOT to correct any of my mistakes in this letter. To me every word is underlined in red because the Italian computer doesn’t recognize my English. Anyways, we win some, we lose some.

My favorite moment of the week was when my super Italian-fluent Albanian companion was praying in Italian for our lunch and she asked Heavenly Father to bless the "food-o". The correct word in Italian is "cibo" (pronounced cheeboh). Again, we can’t win them all!

I am out of time. But I love you all to pieces.

I hope you are all still alive??

Send me pictures of Cancun please!!!!!!! Have Ryan do it - as an overdue Christmas present or something. I love, love, love pictures of anything and everything. Actually don’t even bother writing letters, pictures will do!

LOVE

Buona primavera!
It snowed for like 4 days straight and now the spring has arrived! It’s sunny one day and then rainy the next.

But what an amazing week we had!!!! Yerko was baptized!!!! He had so much support from the ward, it was beautiful. A new convert, the one from Pakistan that plays the piano played a musical number at the baptisms--How Great Thou Art--AMAZING! It was all eastern style.

Random points of the week:
Everyone has been celebrating Carnival. There was a huge parade in the middle of the city. There have been some pretty crazy costumes.

Sorella and I have the flu or strep or something :(
The other night we got on the normal bus to go home. The bus driver must have been having a bus race, or he was trying to make the ride like a rollercoaster, or he wanted to get home, or he was late on schedule. Wow, it was the craziest public transit bus ride I have ever been on. I am positive he was breaking the speed limit and we were flying over curbs left and right. Image this on the narrow wind-y roads of Italy—crazy! We made it home alive.

Did I tell you that Anthony from Pakistan has met Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II? Did you also know that Mother Teresa is from Albania? I will never make that mistake again... :) I am learning a little bit of Albanian. It is nothing like anything really. "Yes" is "po po po", "snow" is "bore". I am also picking up a teeny tiny bit of the Bergamasco dialect (a mix of French and German); "Adom ischtete" means "Let’s go girls". In italian its "Andiamo ragazze". They are not very similar.
These days it’s not very cold in the morning and there is light outside! So we have begun running again, yippy!

I got my first haircut in a year! It feels so good! No worries, just a trim. I still have plans on being a hippie when I get home.
I am happy that Elise is loving Young Women! That puts a big, big smile on my face.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Angela!!!!!!  You are my favorite sister-in-law! No really, you are amazing. And I love seeing beautiful little baby Colin. I can wait to meet him :)
We are teaching this beautiful woman from Nigera. Over the past weeks, it has been so amazing to see her develop a love for our message and the Book of Mormon. I feel the spirit every time we go to her home. She says the most heartfelt prayers, you can tell she is really talking to Heavenly Father. That is one of the many things I am learning from her; that prayer is such a sacred experience and it NEEDS to be from the heart. Also, that the more specific our prayers are, the better. I just want to let you guys know that I can feel your prayers for me! I don’t know how to describe it, only that I can feel it.

Alma 33:12--And now Alma said unto them: Do ye believe those scriptures which have been written by them of old?
20 But few understood the meaning of those things, and this because of the hardness of their hearts. But there were many who were so hardened that they would not look, therefore they perished. Now the reason they would not look is because they did not believe that it would heal them.
23 And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen.
I know that we can know any truth through prayer. It is SO real

Love you allsies,

Have an amazing week :)

Sorella McNamara

Ciao Mamma,
I’m out of time so I can’t write anything this week.  I am soooo happy that Elise loved YW.

Please know that I love you soooooooo SO much!
President turned our world upside down again and sent Sorella Harward to Reggio Emiglio. So now it’s just me and my cute little Albanian companion in a huge apartment that has no hot water. We are working out the kinks. We still go to the same ward.

My credit card still is not working. Someone must have put a hold on it. Will you take care of it please?
Today I’ll get my first hair trim in over a year. Crazy!

The baptisms this weekend were BEAUTIFUL, one of the most beautiful moments I have seen in my life.
Say hello to the kitties for me and the bros and the sistas.

LOVE,

Bunny

Feb. 20, 2013
Buona mattina!

I want to start this email off with a story. Ready? Here goes:

Setting: Sunday night after church before planning around 9 pm

Us (Sorella Harward and Me): "Oh look we received a  call from President. Let’s call him back!"

President: "Pronto Presidente Wolfgramm."

Us:  "Ciao president, it’s the Bergamo Sorelle! We missed a call from you."

President: " Yep, how is everything, how is the work going?"

Us: "Really well, we have two baptisms this week. Anahi and Milenca. We are so excited!"

President: " That’s just great, how would you like to share those baptisms, with another companion?"

Us: " Um, that would be great...."

President: " Well great because sometimes they send missionaries out early before transfers you know with this hastening of the work and all, and we have a sister from Albania arriving on Wednesday, so we want you to come pick her up in Milan on Wednesday, we will eat some pizza get her orientated and then you can take her back to Bergamo and you will both be training her."

Us: "Wow. Okay. Yeah! Um, where is she going to sleep?"

President: " Oh in the new apartment in Alzano (approx 20 min from Bergamo). And you will both move there too, tomorrow. The assistants will be in touch later to give you all the details. I know you can do it! Have a good night, bye."

Us: " Uh, oh, okay, thanks! We are excited too, See you on Wednesday". Hang up phone. WHAT?!

Uhhhhhhhhhh! Ok, I cannot explain the many, many adventures we have had the past 2 days but by some miracle, we are moved into our lovely (really really nice) apartment in Alzano Lombardo. Maybe I will tell you a couple of the adventures; taking an ice cold shower at 6:30 am, walking to the grocery store 2 miles away, getting groceries and then realizing that the store does not take our credit cards. Walking 2 miles back to town, stopping at 3 ATMs that won’t accept our cards. Leaving the groceries there and vowing to never go back to that store. We finally arrive at our house, only to have our new set of keys not work. We arrive at the train station to check train times only to find out there is a train strike (again), um how are we going to get to Milan? We go to an appointment, and she is working and cant see us. We stop by our old apartment to get hangers, which we put in a yellow pillowcase because we have no bags. We take the yellow pillowcase and hangers around the city with us to 3 more appointments. It’s not awkward. We find 30 minutes to do grocery shopping. Now we are walking around Bergamo with 3 grocery bags and a yellow pillowcase. We finish our last appointment too late and our appointment drives us home. We come home, make 5 million calls and then we pass out on our beds.
It has REALLY been an adventure, but I can honestly say, I laughed a lot a lot yesterday. Because sometimes I just have these moments where I think, "My life is crazy!!!" and I love it. We still managed to teach 3 lessons and get a new investigator and do shopping, and clean the apartment.

All I can say is that things are a little busy. We moved this week, are getting a new companion today and we are having 2 BAPTISMS on Saturday! (the amazing twin girls from Bolivia). I am super excited to train again, I love it. President said, after this transfer I will continue to train the new sorella and Sorella Harward will go somewhere else.
Side note, on the 15th, I celebrated my one year missionary mark. Weird!!! I haven’t seen you people for a year!

Anyways, things are going wonderfully, amazingly, splendidly! I am having so much fun here. Bergamo is exploding with miracles.
YES I do want to go to Boston in November! And if I say you can’t go to Cancun without me will you really wait? I doubt it :) So no worries, go and have fun. I’ll take that as a rain check :) The more I think about it, the more I think we should come to Italy next year instead, when the temple is finished and I don’t have 3 huge suitcases.

As for school, I have permission to register myself. The only thing you need to take care of are the holds. On my account, it says I have holds and I don’t know why. I can register March 26th, but I will do it on the 27th because it is p-day. So no worries.
I have to go now, but just know that I love you all.

Tell Sean BUON COMPLEANNO HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me!!
I am off to my next big adventure,

Love bunny :)

Ciaoooooooo!
It’s a beautiful day here in Bergamo. And actually, in a half hour we are headed to Lago di Garda, to go see the castle and the ancient roman ruins. Search it on Google, and be jealous :)

Did I tell you I recieved the earrings you sent me for Christmas? But I did not get the scarf. And if you don’t have the tracking number it is probably lost at the bottom of the sea. Don’t worry about sending me packages. Except, you have to send me homemade caramels! With nuts pretty please! You might as well send them to my mission address because we will have conferences in a couple weeks. Send them ASAP so I get them in time!!
I am staying here in Bergamo!!!!!!! I am very happy about that. Sorella Harward and I will also stay together!!! I am also very happy about that as well. They are bringing in 2 new sets of sister missionaries here next transfer. So I won’t be surprised if I stay in Bergamo for the rest of my mission. Just fine by me :) This place is BEAUTIFUL.

This past week, we basically redid our whole apartment. We got new desks and chairs and a panini oven, new shower head, and a towel rack...all of this really fun stuff! We love it. It took a lot of work but it officially feels like my home now. We also had to go to a nearby city and get some paperwork done for the new sisters’ apartment. And then we also went to the Questura to pick up Sorella Harward’s permesso. We did a lot of "not" missionary work this week, getting things fixed and systemized and working. We were in the Questura (government place) and this woman wanted to show us the upstairs where people get married. We went up and all of a sudden the Questura turned into this beautiful ancient building/cathedral.  There were frescos on the wall and ancient things everywhere. Then we realized, this police station thing is older than our country...weird right!?
Anyways, we have adventures every day. In fact, that has become our mantra "ogni giorno è un'aventura."

The new convert, Anthony, is doing very well. The wards here love him. First, because he is awesome, and second because he can play and sing the piano really well. He is just the most humble, faithful person ever. I can’t wait for his family to arrive here and be baptized. Preghiamo.
As for shoes you should get, I have no idea. We were actually talking about his yesterday. I have no idea what is in style. Well I get what’s in style but not avant garde. So you should just stick with classic heels.

I will need to register for classes sometime next month I think. But it says I have holds. Will you call BYU and figure those out? Also about my ecclesiastical endorsement? I will need to take statistics :(, marketing management, Italian, and Senior thesis.
Grazie mille!

Sorella Harward and I have a new tradition. During lunch, we pull out Jesus the Christ, True to the Faith, the scriptures, and the Old Testament manual and we go searching for answers to our questions. It’s super duper fun. But something I am learning about a lot these days is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Specifically the step where we are to endure. Because, yes it takes time to grow our faith, repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Ghost, but I am learning that the most important step, and certainly the hardest, is to endure to the end. Or to continue living the gospel every day. I’m realizing that it really is through the tiniest things that we grow closer to heavenly father and our savior. Like reading the scriptures every day, praying and going to church. Mom, you think you would have told me this. Just kidding :) you told me these things like 5 million times. But I just didn’t get it. Well now I am starting to understand and see the wisdom in this.
So I just wanted to tell you and dad, thanks for being the BEST parents in the world, seriously, not joking this time :) I write a lot of smiley faces in my letters because I am always smiling these days, just like you Mom. It’s just because I am simply happy. I’ve never been happier. Thanks for that.

Have fun in Florida, and tell Ro to have fun in Cancun and tell robin to have fun on Mars.
Angela, thank you for the pictures!!! As you read above, I don’t know what’s in style anymore!! Love the pedicure and the quilt idea. And I am so happy that Colin will be a tall boy! McNamara pride.

Love you all! And I pray for you!
Sorella Bergabunsco

P.S. We read You are Special with people all the time, and they love it!! Grazie!

Salve :)

Last week we went to MILANO! We went to La Scala and watched their dress rehearsal of Verdi's Nabbuco. Ahhhhhhh, so beautiful. We went and ate panzerotti with Sorella Soh and Lyman and then ate my favorite gellato.
Then on Friday Anthony from Pakistan was baptized! It was such a beautiful evening. He sang a musical number for everyone, which was amazing. I also had the chance to bear my testimony at his baptism. He is so, so, so humble. It was so beautiful to watch him be converted through reading the Book of Mormon. Questo lavoro è vero.

On Saturday, we went to the hospital with the anziani to give a sick man a blessing. Sorella Harward met his wife on the bus the previous day and they started talking about the priesthood power. Immediately she asked us to go and give her husband a blessing. We are excited because we have an appointment with her on Friday!
Are you still worried about which shoes to buy Ryan? I have the solution for you. High top Nikes. EVERYONE is wearing them over here. Just like the blue Nikes he has already, but as high tops. Get him light grey suede with a white swoosh, those look classy. Are all the peeps, boys and girls, wearing high top Nikes over there too? Please report back :)

The miracle of the week happened yesterday evening. Do you remember a few weeks ago when I told you a girl randomly rang the door bell at church and then asked our bishop permission to attend church? Well we had a lesson with her and her husband yesterday. We showed up to their house with a member and they surprised us with dinner!
It was really a 5-part miracle:

1. A surprise dinner. Sweet.
2. A surprise organic dinner. Everything super fresh.

3. They are super spunky and fun.

4. The husband is a lot (a lot) like dad, if you know what i mean.
5. They loved the message of the restoration

Words cannot express how happy I am to know them and share the gospel with them.
Another miracle, we had apartment inspection this week (everything ok there) and the new senior couple missionaries brought us peanut butter and Master Crumble!!! Peanut butter is hard to find here, and Master Crumble is a delicious oat and chocolate mùesli.

Oh yeah, this week we had the flu. Not fun. I think it’s because the weather keeps changing on us. It snows, and then it’s sunny and then it snows and then it’s sunny. Things are starting to look up though. I feel pretty lucky to be here in Italy for the winter, because honestly, it’s not that bad. Knock on wood.
How is Paul? I have been praying for him.

Thank you for giving Indie attention.

Don’t leave Gus-Gus out though :)

Mom, did I tell you you’er the best mom ever? Well it’s true. I was thinking about how amazing you are this past week. And my companion agrees.
I know this church is true with all of my heart and mind. Wow, the Book of Mormon is amazing. Everything just makes sense. So happy.

LOVES AND BUNCHES,

Sorella Bun

Buon giorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrno!
So once again, I am unable to send pictures. That’s ok. I wanted to send you a video of our Pakistan investigator who will be BAPTIZED on Friday! He is the most humble person I have ever met. He fled his country because he is Christian and it was not safe. He is a musician, and was a professor of music at university. So he plays the piano and sings in Urdu. He performs a really beautiful type eastern religious music. I will get it to you somehow, because Ryan has to see it!

Last week we went to Verona again for a conference. Today we are doing a scambio (my first). When I will be in Milan for 24 hours with Sorella Liman, and Sorella Soh will be in Bergamo for 24 hours with Sorella Harward. The skies are bright and sunny and in a half hour we are headed off to Milan for p-day, before our official scambio begins. We are planning to see the famous opera house, La Scala, the cathedral, and to eat some good pizza. Super duper excited.
In terms of missionary work, last week was a little hard. We hit a lot of road blocks in the work. But it’s crazy, I was still grateful and genuinely happy in every moment that was difficult. I’m making it sound like I was in pain or something, but really it was a beautiful week. We learned and grew a lot. I think that once we are ready to change, and we tell Heavenly Father that we are ready, he tries us. And it’s a wonderful thing.

A wonderful miracle happened this week. One day a couple weeks ago, Sorella and I were waiting in the church for an appointment. Out of the blue, this woman knocked on the door and asked us for an appointment with the bishop. You can tell she is genuinely happy and a sweet, sweet person. So this Sunday, she and her husband came to church! They told us they had met 2 years ago in English class (that the missioaries teach), and then they got married! They told us that they are tired of living in a world that doesn’t have values, that is negative, and confusing. SO they asked our bishop permission to attend church. Ah! How beautiful is that!!!! They are probably like 28 or something and we are excited to begin teaching them.
Another miracle, we are helping this family grow closer to Jesus Christ. On Monday we had family home evening with them. We talked about the Word of Wisdom. For the activity, we blindfolded them and had them eat all these random foods; m&ms, cheese, beet roots, etc.. So much fun! They invited us over for lunch on Sunday. Let’s hope they don’t feed us crazy things in return.

Another miracle, we are helping an investigator quit smoking. Instead of smoking, he will pray, or read the scriptures. When he came to the appointment yesterday, he seemed like a completely new person! He is more happy than before as well. I LOVE THIS WORK.
Here in the mission, we are getting all prepared for new missionaries. Right now there are 26 sorelle missionaries. In March there will arrive 15 and in May another 15! Wow. We are stoked. They just purchased another apartment here in Bergamo for sisters, which is great because Bergamo has sooooooo much going on. Anyways, I have to run and catch a train to Milano. I hope you have an amazing day at work :)

LOVE

Sor. Bun.

Grazie per le foto e informazione su neil e judy! Anche, grazie Angela per l'informazione sul fashion!! Ho letto ogni parola :)
Oh my goodness I love the mission SO much. I wish I had hours to tell you allllll of the miracles we see every day. I will just have to read you my journal when I see you. Seriously, beautiful, beautiful days here. Even though it’s been raining!

Ok so yesterday by 10am, we had laughed a lot a lot. We were just heading out the door and i told Sorella Harward, "Today is going to be a funny day, i can just feel it"

So this is a clip from the letter she just wrote her family, enjoy:

One of our most funny adventures happened yesterday with this Egyptian boy named Mohamed, who is obviously Muslim. Anyway he came to church on Sunday with his friend Pier (yes, really his name) who is Christian. I guess I should say they waltzed right into church in the middle of the meeting, they walked in front of everyone and sat down right next to me. Oh goodness, anyway we scheduled a meeting with him and his friend for the next day in the center of the city, the piazza, Porta Nuova. We go to meet them there and it is pouring rain, and so we say, hey we have this church center not too far from here why don’t we go there and have a lesson (it’s the young single adult center for Bergamo), and he says "Okay. Pier has his car, let’s go". Then we have to have this huge conversation about how we can’t ride in the car unless there is another woman, and by now he just thinks we are aliens or something. We say "Okay, we will take the bus and meet you there". We take the bus and get there and they aren’t there, They are in the huge Costco-like-grocery store across the highway. Why? I don’t know. (We can’t blame them, the YSA center is hidden behind a bunch of trees.) So we run across the highway and go get them. We see them in front of the store and say "Let’s go over here now and have our lesson", and they say no let’s just go find somewhere in here and sit down. So it’s already been 50 minutes since we met at the piazza and went in the bus and ran across the highway. Ugh okay... so we don’t really want to go in but we have to teach them so we go in and we go find this little restaurant cafe place and sit down.  Then they say "lets get something to eat what do you want?", and we say “No, no, no, let’s talk about the lesson.” Finally we have the lesson and it goes pretty well besides the fact that the strange Italian woman eating her pizza 1/2 foot away, at the table next to us was totally eavesdropping. And besides the fact I had to come straight out and tell him that Mohamed was not a real prophet and that he didn't have the priesthood. Awkward. Okay but it went well and they said they wanted to read the Book of Mormon and pray. Sincerely, it was a good lesson. Great. Lesson over. I am starving and I want to eat, and so we are just going to buy something to eat and then go, but guess what the boys want to stay and eat too,and Mohamed says “We will pay.” I turn to my companion as they are walking away and say, “.... I think we are on a date.” A date! Oh my goodness we rushed up and tried to get our own food and pay but Mohammed already paid for us! So we have to sneak a 10 £ note into his pocket. Oh goodness and then we are all just there. Eating, and it’s awkward because now we know we are on this weird double date thing. We have nothing to talk  about so we make all this awkward small talk about how many siblings they have and what sports do they like to play, which makes it feel even more like a bad first date. And then Mohamed comes right out and says this is my first time I have gone out with a girl, and Sorella McNamara tries not to smile and says "Well we like to help people and talk about Jesus" HAHA, how else do you respond as a missionary?? It was so hard not to burst out laughing. We were trying so hard to be professional and we kept saying: “Yes we love being missionaries. We are missionaries. Isn’t great that we are missionaries.” Do you think they would have gotten the hint? But no. Then they walked us to the bus stop and waited with us in the rain until it came. so.... more awkward small talk. We ran on the bus and burst out laughing for this wonderfully awkward date..l mean day. Needless to say we are giving them to the Anziani. There ya go. The life of a missionary.
Ok that was in the afternoon. In the evening, we met and investigator named Yerko at the YSA center. He is an amazing guy and has tonnnnns of faith. If you were to see him on the street, you would think he is this too-cool-for-school kid that rides this trick bike all around town.  Anyways, so he walks in the door, in this purple snow suit, and bright yellow rain boots. He waltzes in and acts like nothing is wrong. Sorella and I just burst up laughing. Oh my goodness, so much laughing.  He had to explain that he has to be prepared to go to work (shoveling snow) if it snows that evening. Oh, he has good reasoning, but the outfit really puts a dent in his style.

I love love love this mission with all my heart. Oh my goodness it’s amazing. Bergamo is really the city of miracles, really really. There is this one family that it so dear to my heart. The parents are less active and the 14 year old daughters will be baptized on the 2nd. I just love hiking (yes hiking) up to their house and teaching them the gospel. It’s really beautiful to see them try to work out their problems through family prayer and scripture study. I just love them so much.
I have to go now. But I love you guys!!! Some day I will tell you alllll about the adventures I am having over here. It’s beautiful.

Have a great week!!

LOVE YOU TO PIECES!

Love,

Bunchkin

Hello! This morning was lovely. We went up to Citta Alta and went into 3 cathedrals. Then we ate the most delicious panini and gelato, and then apricot bread from a bakery. Mmmmmmmmm!  It is saldi season so we walked down the main street and looked at beautiful things for a little while.

What was in the packages you sent? One arrived with the book I wanted.  What else?
Also, I try to pull money off the card and it keeps denying me. Are you sure Dad puts money on there; can you contact the bank and tell them that I need it to work here?

I will get to you next week. About your question, you’ll get travel plans six months before my release date. You need to inform the travel office if you will be coming to pick me up.

I have to go but I LOVE YOU. And I LOVE THE MISSION!!

Love,
Bunny

P.S. Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1/2/13

Ciao from Bergamo!!

First I will tell you about the city. It’s BEAUTIFUL! It actually kind of reminds me of an Italian downtown Salt Lake. Our area is all of the city itself. We live right about in the middle and next to citta alta (the ancient city on the hill). We have yet to explore citta alta but we will hopefully get to it next week. The city is so beautiful and the people are so friendly. There are a ton--a ton --of bolivians here. Just a side note, a lot of Equadorians live in Genova, a lot of Peruvians live in Milan, and a lot of Bolivians live here. I am basically making my way through South America! Anyway, we are on bikes. Well we were on bikes. After lunch on Saturday we came outside and Sorella Harward’s bike was stolen, in the mid-day sun. Today we will go looking for a new one.

My companion is from Taylorsville. She was trained by the Argentian, Sorella Padula. This is Sorella Harward’s second area, so I will finish up training with her. Honestly I feel like I am the one being trained. In one word she is oustanding, diligent, and wonderful . . .(okay three). I am learning tons from her. Actually, last month I was thinking about how I wanted to start out the new year, and I prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help me be more diligent. And then BAM! I am now companions with the most diligent person I’ve ever met (besides you Mom). She is also a singer;  I am hoping to learn a thing or two in that area as well.

On Saturday night there was a new year’s party in the church. Oh, another side note, there is a church here! A full, free-standing church! And it’s beautiful! There are missionaries in two of the other wards and we are the missionaries of the branch that meets at 4PM. Anyway, on Saturday night we came to this party, only to find out that it wasn’t for new years but that it was for folk dancing. As I watched them do all these international dances, I couldn’t help but picture Robin in the middle of the circle with a smile on her face, banging a tambourine.

Oh, before I forget, I went to the post office in Savona to try and get those packages, but without a number there is no way to track them. Will you email the tracking numbers to Sorella Durfee and then she can go and check. Her email is kendra.durfee@myldsmail.net
Grazie!

On Sunday a member from South America asked me if my father was from South America. I was totally bewildered by this question. But then she went on to explain that I have a South American accent when I speak Italian. I consider this success because at least my accent is not American!!

It sounds like you had an amazing Christmas; thank you for the pictures as well!!!

Tomorrow Sorella Harward and I will go to Milan for consiglio. It’s the conference that President Wolfgramm has with zone leaders every month. He always invites one pair of Sorelle missionarie, and this time it’s us! I am excited to go and learn from the boss.

The weather here hasn’t been too bad. It has been sunny and clear the past few days. Today it started to rain, and I know snow is coming. It’s definitely colder than Savona.

There is a member here who is an artist. His wife talked to me all about the galleries here in Bergamo and the museums she has visited. It was so fun to talk about my passion with her.

On New Year’s Eve we were instructed to be home by 7 p.m. because we are both sick and fighting these colds. We took this opportunity to go to bed early and then sleep in until 11 AM! It was weird waking up and half the day was over. I actually didn’t like it, feeling lazy and all.

We are teaching this man from Pakistan. His nephew is a member of the church so he already knows a thing or two. But he just has so much faith. He will be baptized on the 26th. He was telling us he feels like he has already been baptized in his heart, but that he wants to physically be baptized in water to make it official.

Last night we had a lesson with a 23-year old member. It was so wonderful to be able to be there for her and talk with her about the gospel. It was just more proof for me that I am called to the Italy Milan mission for a reason, and that Sorella Harward is supposed to be my companion at this time. I can’t even explain how beautifully perfect this gospel is.

I am excited for this new year! It hasn’t hit me yet. Actually, it hasn’t even hit me that I am on a MISSION! What?! crazy!! I still feel like I got here yesterday. Good to know, Dad, that you started counting down the days till you see me! Haha. It will be a quick 7 months.

You are all amazing and I do miss your craziness at times. Tell Indie I love her and Guss Guss too.

Buon Natale!!!

I had the best Christmas of my life yesterday, it was so beautiful. We went to a member’s house (Bruna), to eat lunch. We had different continents represented by America, Italy, Cambodia, Africa, and Brazil. I finally got to try real African food, it was sooo delicious. Everyone always talks about it being spicy, so I always took that to mean hot. But as I figured out yesterday, it is spicy because they put a whole bunch of yummy spices in there! Maybe I’m a little bit slow, but it was very good.

On Christmas at 12 AM we went to midnight mass in the big cathedral in Savona. It was packed; we had to stand for the whole hour! It was really beautiful to watch the ceremony.

We woke up on Christmas morning and opened all of our presents under our tree--a lot of sweet gifts that will always remind me of the people here.

Hey guess what? I am moving to Bergamo on Friday!! Sorella Bush served there and loved, loved, loved it. I have only heard good things. I don’t know my compaion but I here she is from Argentina. Sweet!!

We just talked a couple of days ago so I don’t have anything else to say. I don’t have any packages yet. We will check the post office tomorrow. Today we are going to Loan to eat lunch with Sorella Cipiriano and her son. My birthday was wonderful! I have had a cold but we went and ate sushi anyway. It have just been happy! Like all the time. I just love this time of year. I am super sad to be leaving Savona. I love these people. But I promised them all I would return...so we have to make that happen, okay?

So I just was about to send you a bunch of pictures from Christmas and I just realized I don’t have my camera....But I have been to Bergamo once and they have nice working computers at the internet cafe. All will be well.

LOVE YOU ALL!
It was great to talk to you guys. You are crazy ;)

Happy New Year!

Love,
Sorella McBunski

P.S.  I loved the photos you sent, keep them coming my way!

Buon Natale famiglia!!!

E un bellissimo tempo del anno!

Last Saturday Sunshine and Paul were baptized. They are a couple from Nigeria. They don’t actually live here in Savona but they will move here soon. In fact, in September Sorella Jones (my last companion) and I had stopped them in the street and shared the Book of Mormon with them. They told us that they didn’t live here in Savona and then we parted ways. So then two months ago, a member brought his two friends to church, who turned out to be them! Anyway, they are such an amazing pair and I am so, so, so happy for them :)

It actually snowed last week! But then it all melted right away. Last week we went to Genova to this store called La Casa Della Bibbia. I have heard of this place by a lot of other missionaries. Finally we were able to go and we bought mini Italian bibles! They are beautiful!!

On Sunday I gave a talk in church. I wasn’t even nervous! (I’m growing up Mom!) A few of the members gave us a ton of food and presents that we can open on Christmas.

On Monday we had an adventurous day. We walked to a nearby city on foot looking for this street where this artist lives. Her name is Serena and her father is a professor of art history that we visit in a rest home. She has sculptures in Chile and Italy. It was very interesting to talk to her. The walk to find her house was literally along the beach, so, so beautiful!

Yesterday we went to Allessandria for the Christmas zone conference where we had a nativity scene, sang songs, and laughed a lot a lot. Sorella Durfee and I got to stand up in front of everyone while they sang happy birthday to us. Then we got to choose our gifts from the gift basket, a toothbrush and a candy bar. The conference was amazing. All the missionaries here are super awesome. They all feel like family.

Today, a new convert from Varese, Luca, came to visit us here! So far we have toured the fortress of Savona, walked around Centro, and eaten sushi! After this we will go and cut out a ton of paper snowflakes. I am excited.

Tonight, we are going to the Minicozzi/Pelle famiglia to eat dinner and teach a lesson to the new convert Nicola. Tonight and tomorrow, the sisters from Genova are coming to do an exchange with us. On Friday, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! We will have district meeting with the anziani of San Remo, then there will be Christmas party in church. I am really looking forward to it; we will watch the Christmas devotional. On Saturday we are eating lunch with the Sanchez/Zambrano family. Then on Sunday we will chat. HOW weird!! And then on Tuesday it will be the beautiful most best happiest day of the year, CHRISTMAS!

That is the plan! It will be a beautiful, miracle-filled week!

Angela, thank you for the pictures of Indie and the baby, I loved them! He is growing so fast! And you’re right, Indie is fat.

Tell Robin happy birthday for me, if you haven’t already.

Otherwise, I will talk to you guys in a couple days! Sunday at 9 am to be exact. It should be 5 pm here because we are 8 hours ahead.

LOVE YOU ALLLLLL! Have a wonderful weekend

Big Bunny (22 in 2 days! Yikes!)

P.S. Please send me some caramels :)

Hello, hello, hello!

What a lovely week we have had! Miracle of the week is that one of our investigators found a job! We have been hoping and praying that they would find one here in Savona because we want them to stay!! And so I am super happy. Her name is Sunshine and her husband’s name is Paul, and they will be baptized on Saturday!!

Another highlight of the week is that last week after we had a lesson with Sunshine and Paul in the church, we kind of had an African dance party. Robin would have appreciated this. They put on some Nigerian music and showed us how its traditionally done. It was a blast.

On Friday, little Nicola was baptized. It was beauuuutiful! We made sure the water was nice and toasty, because it is cold outside!

On Monday we went to Allesandria for a meeting. We saw some pretty cool miracles on the train there and back.

So I have to let you know that train stations stress me out. Not like anything intense, but I just don’t like them! So whenever we are catching a train we have to look at the train time, where it’s going, and the platform number, like usual. Anyway I had a nightmare that we had 3 minutes to catch a train going home. I was frantically searching for the platform number on the departure board. All of a sudden my eyes caught "Binario 40", (platform 40). and I was like "Noooooooooooo! We will never make it!" I woke up stressed and breathing hard. It’s funny now.

This Sunday I will be giving a talk in church on libero arbitrio, free agency. Wish me luck :)

Tell robin when she’s done with Hawaii to swing by my way!

I am out of time but, thank you all for being the best family ever :)

Love,

Coniglio

Okay,  here are some random pictures I hope you enjoy.

This week we found a new investigator! She is 21 and from Mongolia. She is so ready for the gospel. We asked her to pray at the end of the second lesson and she said she felt really good. We explained that it was the spirit! I know  the gospel will be perfect for her as she continues to live and study far away from home. After the lesson we went to the gym with her and watched her take fencing lessons. Yeah, it was the coolest. There were guys on the other side of the room practicing Japanese sword fighting stuff. We meet once a week to talk about the gospel and she says in exchange she is going to start teaching us Mandarin Chinese. Sweeeeeeet! Remember forever ago when I told you I wanted to learn Chinese? Dreams are coming true!

On Monday we went to San Remo and had a really awesome district meeting. We talked to a man of the train who was really interested in the church. We will meet him and his family tomorrow to give them a Book of Mormon!

Yesterday we went to Genova for a blitz. My companion was Sorella Stewart from Salt Lake. She is awesome. Just a happy, happy gal. She is the one with the red hair, and in the background is Genova. I feell like have been to Genova enough times that I can get around on my own, which is awesome because I will definitely be returning some day!

How are the Philippines? Take some pictures and send them to me, please!

The other day I was flipping through another Ensign and saw another painting of Susan’s. I didn’t know she had painted it but I thought "This looks like her work" and then there her name was at the bottom. Cool!

So there was a book I wanted you to send me ages ago. It’s called Tu Sei Speciale, or You Are Special. You can’t really get it here in Italy. Would you mind ordering it from Amazon and sending it to the mission home? Apparently you can order stuff off Amazon UK and then when it arrives here in Italy I don’t have to pay customs.

Also, are burnt foods bad to eat? Italians keep telling me I will get cancer. Please ask BaBa.

Dad’s email today wins the award for best letter ever. He told me about his new calling as a Sunday school counseler. I was really impressed as I read the first sentance, that he had been preparing his whole life for this calling. But then the sentence concluded with "so I could ring the bell". Hahaha, I remember him always talking about that!

On Friday little Nicola is getting baptized. Yay!!!! And next Monday we will head to Alessandria for zone conference.

Today for lunch I made pumpkin soup with spinaci and ricotta tortellini. Mmmmmmm. I am so excited to cook for you when I get home!

We went to a cartoleria today and guess what I bought. PAPER! It
s my most favorite thing ever. I have a lot of fun projects I am working on. I will show you over Skype at Christmas.

Love you all bunches. December is the BEST!

Love, love, love,

Sorella Bunchkin

You almost gave me a heart attack for a minute. Thank you for not deleting my blog haha :) Thanks dad, thanks Tom!

What a beautiful, beautiful week we had! On Friday we went to Genova for a conference and some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Every time we go and hear from Presidente Wolfgramm and Sorella Wolfgramm I always feel so pumped up afterword. We are so lucky to have such amazing leaders here in Milan.

On Saturday was the beautiful baptism of Rosanna and her son Jamel. Basically everything was going wrong. We were running around making copies of the program, waiting for the font to fill up when we realized no one who came had the keys to open up the cupboard where they place the white baptismal clothes. We were calling everyone in the phone book to figure out where those keys went! All of a sudden I saw our branch president walk by with some pretty heavy tools. He had plans to break that thing open. Sadly, that still didn’t work. But prayer works! Someone magically found a box full of keys and we started sifting away. Finally one of them fit! Yay!!

Rosanna and Jamel are both hydrophobic so we tried to prepare them well for the baptisms. When Rosanna got in the font she was just shaking. She was nervous. I just loved her so much in that moment, having so much faith to be baptized and overcome her fears. I went over to her and gave her a hug and told her that everything would be all right. She took a couple deep breaths and then was completely calm. Presidente Zaupa baptized her. It was so beautiful.

There are a few moments on my mission that I hold so sacred and dear, and this is one of them. It just makes my heart more happy than anything else ever could.

On Sunday we got on a train at 7 am to head to Allessandria for stake conference. On the train were Sorella Durfee, Stanley, Cornelius, and our investigators, Sunshine and Paul. It was an amazing conference and a fun train ride learning pigeon English from Sunshine :)

On Monday we had a lesson with this super sweet Cambodian girl named Lita. She is just the nicest. We also were walking along the street doing strada when we ran into this woman who we had talked with a couple weeks ago. I think Heavenly father really wants us to share the gospel with her. We will try to have a lesson with her this week.

Yesterday we stopped by an investigator’s house. She is Brazilian and probably the most fun person I know. She is always laughing and happy. We invited Sorella Corsini (who is from Brazil) to come with us. Our investigator opened up so much. It was beautiful to see that she trusts us and that she has such strong faith in God. I want to be friends with her forever. She is just that type of gal.

Today we are going to Genova to get lost in a giant book store. We are super excited. We also hope to stop by this place called La Casa della Bibbia, where we can by mini bibles!!

I forgot to tell dad HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I can never seem to get the date right...hmmm....i wonder why? Also, last week at a member’s house we ate Norwegian fish. At least that’s what they were telling me. It’s the kind that they put in rock salt and then to clean it you have to let it soak in water for 15 days? Anyways, it was really good. Salty. Mmmmm.

This last week I went out on a whim and bought pumpkin. I made pumpkin soup and it was soooooooo delicious. We are buying it again today!

Thank you for sending the dvds, Im pretty sure they will work here.

Have fun in the Phillipines! Don’t forget about me :)

I haven’t gotten any packages yet but I’ll keep un occhietto aperto.

I am out of time.

Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Sorella McMangia!

Hello family!

This week was amazing!!!!! We now are teaching 7 lovely people with baptismal dates. It is the most amazing and fulfilling experience to talk and learn from them. This Saturday Ismael will be baptized; we are super excited. I love this city so much. I love the people even more. Tomorrow marks the halfway mark for my mission, weird! I still feel brand new. I am excited to really implement allllll of the things that I have been learning and become a better missionary.

So last week as soon as we finished emailing we returned to our apartment. We were between the ground and 1st floor when the elevator stopped! The power went out and we were just in darkness. It was super funny. There wasn’t a phone in the elevator or a number to call so I called a ward member. 5 minutes later there were Italian fire fighters there to help rescue us. It was quite an event. And yet, we are still alive!!

So, remember how I have been feeling sick and nauseous for the past couple months? Well I finally spoke with a doctor and guess what, surprise surprise it’s my gall bladder. Angela knows what I’m talking about. Last week after emailing we went to a members house who is from Ecuador who cooked us delicious pollo con riso. That stuff is basically soaked in oil. Anyways, I felt super nauseated the rest of the day. On Thursday I felt better. Then on Friday, Sorellla and I decided to test our theory and we ate hash browns for breakfast. Bad idea. I talked with a doctor who is a gall bladder specialist on Friday night and he confirmed our suspicions. Basically I can’t eat any fried foods, fast foods, or whole dairy.

November 7, 2012

Ciao cara famiglia!

Seems like a bunch of craziness going on. It sounds fun!! Also everyone is going on a mission and I am so happy!!!

This weekend I left my agenda at an investigators’ house who lives an hour away and then I didn’t see it for 3 days. That thing literally holds my life. As you would call it mom, it’s my "brain" and I lost it for a little while! So then I left it at home today so I can’t remember all the beautiful things I was going to tell you. But I will try.

I had the flu this weekend. We didn’t end up going to church. There is a picture I attached that shows you how I felt: dead.

Last p-day was successful. We went to Genova and bought leather gloves and a warm hat for the winter. On Friday the Sorelle from Genova came to us and we had a scambio. I was companions with Sorella Morley from Orem. We knew each other in the MTC and she just has the biggest heart ever. We had an amazing day going up to Rosanna’s house in Chairo and teaching her about how the gospel blesses families.

You would be so proud of me because we made fresh fresh fresh homemade pasta and ragu! I feel like I should start sharing a weekly food section. It’s one of the many highlights of being here in Italy :) On Saturday we made brownies from scratch (for the first time!!) and they were delicious! There was a member and an investigator who had birthdays that day so we took them around and then to another member, Sorella Cipiriano.

Wow, prayer works!!! Do you remember when I told you about Rosanna's son who came to church and loved primary? He will be baptized with his mom on the 24th!!! I am in the clouds and could not be happier.

9 year old Ismael will be baptized next week!!

As for my questions, I think all the time, "If only I could ask my mom this or that". But then I usually end up finding the answers in the scriptures anyways. For example, the other day I was wondering how the stick of Ephraim is the Book of Mormon if Lehi is from Manassah. But then the next day I read something that explains Ishmael is from Ephraim. And they both come from Joseph anywho. I have been reading the Old Testament and have loooooooooooved it. I am in 1st Samuel. If I could pause time I would just study the history and learn all about it from the beginning of time. Recently I have been interested in Christ’s lineage. Which gets me super excited to come home and do genealogy!!! For serious!!! By now I image you are asking yourself if I am really your daughter, the one that left 9 months ago! But could you please sent me my pedigree chart. Sorella Durfee pulled hers out yesterday and I was in drooling in awe.

Um also--do you realize that next week I will be half way done with my mission? NOOOOO! Time is flying way to fast. Let’s promise to not speak of the end again.

Adesso scrivo in italiano affinchè potete practicare.

Hello famiglia!

Fall has finally come! It’s raining today! Where to begin . . .

Here is just some randomness:

Last p-day we went to the De Milato’s with the Robinsons for lunch. We ate a fruit called chocchi. It’s basically a mix between a tomato, a pumpkin and an apricot. It’s really weird.

In the missionary apartments there are stacks and stacks of Ensigns that were printed ever since the world began. I was going through some old ones and all of a sudden I saw a picture I recognized. It was Susan’s painting "The Sabbath Morning" in the August 2006 edition. I felt right at home seeing my cousins!

Sorella Durfee told me that the other night I was talking in my sleep. Apparently I was saying "e poi, e poi, e poi?" which means "and then, and then, and then?" I am content to know that I am practicing my Italian conversational skills even in my sleep :)

On Saturday we had the ward Halloween party. It was soooooooooooo much fun. We ate, we danced, we ate, we played games, and we ate. A few investigators came as well.

We have four marvelous investigators with a baptismal date!

On Monday we went to San Remo for district meeting. Since the Robinsons left, we took the train. It was the most beautiful 2 hour train ride ever. On one side was the sea and the sun and on the other side were a bunch of cute little Italian towns and hills and mountains and rivers. So picture perfect!

The other night we were riding our bikes home from an appointment. We were on one of the narrowest streets in Italy when this car honked at Sorella durfee. Before I knew it, my hand was up in the air in the tradition Italian hand gesture (with the palm facing the sky and the 5 fingers touching) saying "Heeeeyyyy!" He was doing the same thing back at me. I think I need to control my manners.

Get this, there is an Italian law where the landlords control the heat in the apartment complexes. So the radiator is only on from 6-8, 2-4, and 7-9. You know me, my room is usually 80 degrees in the winter. Soooo I’m still working this one out.

So for the past week, we were trying to use public transportation more and wean ourselves off of going with the Robinsons who have a car. We left the sunny beach of Savona at 4 and by 5 we were in the mountains of Chairo Montonote where it was pouring rain. We had an adventure finding an investigators house in the pouring rain. Then the Robinsons came and saved us 2 hours later and we went to a member’s house in Chairo for dinner.

The miracle of the week has to go to our sweet, sweet investigator Rosanna. Wow, she is strong. She is so ready to be baptized and her 11-year old son is loving church as well! We gave him a Book of Mormon for kids and he is excited to read it.

She told us that she distinctly felt the spirit this week and that she feels more peace and tranquility in her life. I am happy :)

Another miracle, I made chicken pot pie. And it was actually good.

Today Sorella Durfee and I are off to Genova for the day!

What is this news of Sean working with Burberry? Can he get me any free scarves? After all, he hasn’t written me ONE letter. :)

Cool. Everything is going well. I am happy and I just love you guys to death.

Last night we walked by a store window and they had Christmas decorations in the window. CHRISTMAS!!!!! Ok but for now I hope you all have a very good November.

Love,

Sorella Bunny

Also, I need you to order a mini preach my gospel TODAY! Order it to the house and then send it to my apartment because I can’t get it to ship to me from America. Grazie mille! It only costs 4 dollars.

Also I want powder makeup. The same one I used to wear. Will you check in my drawer of makeup? Look at the bottom side of the containers. I usually wrote if it was for summer or winter. At least will you tell me what brand and what is the name of my winter color? Thanks!

HUGS AND LOVES

October 24, 2012issa McNamaraCiao tutti! What a crazy week! Time is flyyyyyying! Ok so everything is going amazing. We are teaching 3 investigators who have baptismal dates! Last saturday there were two baptisms, an 8 year old Andy, and a re-baptism of this amazzzing mother. On sunday10

Ciao tutti!

What a crazy week! Time is flyyyyyying! Okay so everything is going amazingly well. We are teaching 3 investigators who have baptismal dates! Last Saturday there were two baptisms, an 8-year old Andy, and a re-baptism of this amazing mother.

On Sunday someone from the stake came and helped us teach a lesson to Rosanna. It was perfect for her. Her son also came to church and loved primary!

There were so so many miracles this week. Serioiusly, too many to count. Last week doing strada we met a man who seemed a little interested in our message. When we met him again we had a beautiful lesson on the restoration. The spirit was definitely present. He is a little shy and didn’t want to commit to meeting with us again the following week, but wanted to take his time. 3 days later, Sorella Durfee and I woke up at 6:30 am to go running and when we reached our destination point, there was Lorenzo! He was teary-eyed and said that he just couldn’t sleep. He told us that he had been reading the Book of Mormon and that he is looking for change in his life. It was a great opportunity for us to bare our testimonies and give him encouragement. I know that the lord placed him in our path twice because he is looking for the gospel and Heavenly Father wanted us to share it with him.

Sorella Durfee is the best! She is picking up Italian soooo quickly. I didn’t really realize that I could speak Italian until my last companion left and then I realized it was all on me! It’s a hard question to answer, how "good" it is but I think I am almost fluent. There are just a couple tenses I am scared to use because I don’t know how really but I know they will come with time. Training is pushing me in soo many ways and I am learning so much!!!

The missionary couple, the Robinsons, are leaving Italy on Monday! They were supposed to leave in December but for medical reasons think it’s better to go now. I am going to miss them so much!

This Saturday we are having a Relief Society activity/Halloween party. We will be making homemade pasta and then having a costume party. 100% Italian style Halloween.

Today for p-day we are going to Vado Ligure to pranzo with the De Milato family and the Robinsons. It should be delicious!

It has been decided:  I am not ever coming home from my mission. It may have taken a while to get there but I’m certain that the missionary life is the best life there is :) I love teaching people about Jesus Christ. It’s such a beautiful thing.

I am working on sending pictures. Every week I get on here with high hopes but nothing turns out.

So I’m looking forward to trying again next week :)

I understand its fall there? It has been in the high 70s here this week :)

LOVE YOU ALL TO PIECES.

Tell Robin that she needs to come to Italy. Tell Angela that she looks gorgeous in her pumpkin patch pictures with Colin. Tell Ryan to get on my Facebook and accept some pending friend requests. Tell the rest of the clan to SEND ME A LETTER!

Love,

Sorella McNamara

Melissa McNamaraHello mummy dearest! My new companions name is Sorella Durfee, she is from Colorado. She is SO amazing! She is super down to just work hard and learn! She never studied italian or anything but you would never guess it. She already bares her testimony in lessons10/10/2012

Hello Mummy Dearest and all!

My new companion’s name is Sorella Durfee, she is from Colorado. She is SO amazing! She is super down to just work hard and learn! She never studied Italian or anything but you would never guess it. She already bears her testimony in lessons and can explain all the basic principles of the gospel. She is seriously the sweetest.

It has been a crazy crazy week. On Thursday we went to Milan. On Saturday and Sunday we watched conference (amazing!!). On Monday we went to Alessandria and tomorrow we are going to Varese. Then next Monday we will be going back to Alessandria. So much traveling!!

I’m super excited to go "home" to Varese tomorrow! I have to pick up my Permesso--my Italian legal ID. It is going to take literally all day but it will be so worth it because we are also meeting Sorella Bush and Sorella Beuter for lunch!

Conference was so good! I really liked the Saturday morning session. My favorite talk I saw was Elder Holland’s. I was so strong! We still haven’t seen the Sunday afternoon session yet.

Things are going well here :) It’s an adventure every day. We did some strada on Monday and were able to get some phone numbers of people who are interested in the Book of Mormon. I love this beautiful city. I just want to talk to every single person in it!

On Tuesday we went and took bread from this organic bread store. We pick up the bread that they didn’t sell the day before and give it to investigators and members and such. Anyway it is the best bread I have ever ever ever had. It’s all sorts of focaccia with delicious toppings. My favorite being pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds, and sunflower seeds. Mmmmm. Sorella Durfee bought Nutella and everything has been downhill from there. Just kidding, but we have been indulging ourselves. Today we are going to Joseline’s house to eat lunch with her and then her sister (who is a skin guru) is going to give us facials. Apparently we might skype with Sorella Jones who just got home as well (excited!!!). We are also going to try to buy boots. We both need them. The weather is still in the low 70s here but I fear it will get cold soon!

Sorella Durfee’s birthday is on the 24th of December we are making big plans for our birthdays/Christmas. It will be so fun!

Otherwise, all is well! I am looking forward to a lot of miracles this week!!!

I love all of you!

Do me a favor and eat an RC Willey hotdog for me on Saturday morning.

Love,

Bunny

Melissa McNamaraBuongiorno!! I am staying in Savona!!! And I am training a new sorella! I will meet her tomorrow in Milan. Things are going wonderfully. Roberto told us on sunday that he knows the Book of Mormon is true, yay! We are teaching indians from India and another10

Buongiorno!!

I am staying in Savona!!! And I am training a new sorella! I will meet her tomorrow in Milan.

Things are going wonderfully. Roberto told us on Sunday that he knows the Book of Mormon is true, yay! We are teaching Indians from India and another couple from Sri Lanka. We also have been meeting with this woman from Romania who is sooooo excited to read the Book of Mormon. Yesterday we were teaching her on a park bench and she just looked at us and was like "why, why are you guys in Italy?" I told her that I’m here because I know with all of my soul that the Book of Mormon is true. And then all of a sudden there were tears in my eyes!! I have never cried in a lesson before but I was just feeling the spirit so strong and I was just too happy. I looooooove being a missionary.

We finished our 3D puzzle of the world and the Robinsons (the missionary couple) are going to give us 2 new puzzles to figure out! Life is quite excititng :)

This transfer has flown by so fast! I will miss my twin, Sorella Jones. Yesterday the ward threw a surprise party for her. She has been here for 7 months! It was so fun and everyone loves her so much.

On Sunday we went to the De Milato’s house for lunch. They live up in the mountains and have a crazy awesome house. It’s like stucco cabin that has 30 rooms and was created to be a maze. Plus there is a huge garden. It’s beautiful. I tasted a fruit that is a mix between a grapefruit and a mandarin orange, but the fruit was green. Anyway, she made us a delicious lunch and we had a good old time.

Ok I need you to send me 3 things ASAP!

A mini (I mean the smallest) Book of Mormon in English.

The EFY CD, “We Believe All Things,” I think its EFY 2011.

And the book, “You are Special” but in Italian (“Tu Sei Speciale.” Used is fine.

Please send it to my address in Savona. Grazie!

Angela - The pictures of little Colin are soooo cute!!!! He makes the funniest faces! I feel like I can get a sense of his personality through them :)

Dad - buy that house! I am a fan! Doesn’t it have a slide in it? That will be great for all the grand kids. Also a pool!!!

Mom - your letters are funny. Did you know that at the end of every letter dad sends me he says "Don’t get hit by a car--Dad"? You guys are funny.

I am over the moon excited for conference this weekend. I hope you are all too! Tonight we are all going to Milan to spend the night with the Sorelle there because I have to be there at 9 am. Then I will meet my new sorella, come back home and get straight to work. Please pray for me haha. I have only been here 6 weeks in Savona and I feel like I have been in Italy for 7 weeks so it will be quite an adventure, me and this new sorella figuring out this stuff together. I am excited!

Have a wonderful week!

Love you all

Love,

Hello I only have like 1 second but here are the highlights for the week:

Last week we ate lunch with a member named Deborah who made tiramisu.....mmm....Mom, I knew you’d be jealous.

We went and saw the little Egyptian exhibition.

Last week we ate on lunch on the Savona pier.

We are teaching a Muslim who loves, loves, loves the Book of Mormon and wants to know more!

We are teaching Indians who believe in Jesus Christ and we are currently trying to find a Book of Mormon in Malayalam for them.

We watched Elder Holland’s fireside in Southern Utah at family home evening.

We celebrated the 40th anniversary of the church in Savona on Sunday.

We went to San Remo for district meeting on Monday.

We are continuing to see Roberto three times a week.

We cooked a lot this week - focaccia, "brutti ma buonni" cookies, pizza...

We figured out that 3 different people escaped Jerualem and came to the Americas--Jaredites, Lehi, and Mulekites. (we only thought 2 before!?)

We are making a puzzle that our investigator Rosanna gave us. Its a puzzle of the world and its 3D. Its TOO fun.

We had a attivita per le ragazze yesterday at the Robinson’s (missionary couple’s) apartment. We painted our nails and ate stuff. Josephine, a new convert from Nigeria brought synthetic hair and braded everyone’s hair!!!! I have 3 little braids right below my left ear, at the nape of my neck. I love them! They look super cool when my hair is up in a high bun. Apparently they are supposed to stay in for 3 months. Fine by me!

Today we went to Genova with Deborah, a member. We tried to go to the Miro exhibit at the Dodges Palace but some big thing was going on so we couldn’t enter. Instead we ate sushi on the pier at this oh-so-good restaurant, and then we went shopping at HM :) We also went into Genova’s famous church San Lorenzo where we talked with a Franciscan monk.

It was an amazing day, and now we are off to teach some lessons!

p.s. no my stomach is not bothering me anymore.

Sorella Jones leaves Italy in 1 week from tomorrow. NOooooooo!!!!

i LOVE YOU ALL AND NOW I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO UNCAPITALIZE THE KEYBOARD SO IM REALLY NOT YELLING BUT I THINK ITS JUST BROKEN.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK!

I LOVE YOU (NOW IM YELLING)

Hello family!

Just want to say that I love you guys :)

We had another fantastic week! Let me start with a miracle.

So last week I told you about a man Roberto who we met in a train and wanted a Book of Mormon.

WELL, He came to church on Sunday and loved it. Then we met him 2 more times to talk about the Book of Mormon.

Yesterday the most unexpected thing happened! He came to the appointment and told us that he has been thinking about it and that he’d really like to be baptized. He openly smokes and drinks, so thinking that it would take some time to stop we asked him if he would want to set a date for November 24. Then he told us that he was thinking something more like September 30th. Crazy! He is so ready to change his life and follow Jesus Christ.

Sorella Jones and I were twins in the pre-earth life. We continue to say things and think things at the same time on a daily basis. I love her to death and I feel like we are going to be friends for a very, very long time. We went to Genova on Monday for a blitz with Sorella Oakes and Sorella Hanks. It was so good to see them again. I loved seeing Sorella Oakes, I’ts like seeing my sister again. We went running together on Tuesday morning at 6:30, just like the olden days. She is such a sweetie.

On Sunday we had branch conference. The church was sooo packed. We had 4 investigators come! Sorella Jones and I sang a solo again haha...I don’t know how in the world this keeps happening. After church there was a feast. We all stuck around and ate yummy food....this is how we do it in Italy. Also, next week is the 40th-year-old anniversary of the Church in Savona, so there will be another feast after church. In fact they are currently looking for a new church here because the ward is growing!!

I love the mission so much. We seriously see SO many miracles each day. We keep asking ourselves why we are being so blessed. We feel really good about our work together.

For example (this one is just funny). A couple weeks ago it was rainy and Sorella Jones was telling me how she LOVES rain boots, that she has a pair of bright yellow ones at home. We talked about how useful rain boots would be here on the mission. A couple days later we came home at 9 pm, locked up our bikes on a pole and sitting 3 feet away (next to the dumpster) were lightly used black rain boots - just in her size. So we took them!

Ok, so a couple weeks ago, I lost my flip flops somewhere in the apartment. Every day I would ask Sorella if she had seen them or anything. Carpet doesn’t exist in Italy and the stone floors make your feet cold. Anyway, I mentioned a couple times that I wanted to buy some slippers to solve both problems there. Anyways, last Saturday we came home at 9 pm and locked up our bikes and guess what was sitting next to the dumpster? A PAIR OF NEW SLIPPERS! In my size!! We were laughing so hard. Sorella Jones kept saying that God has a sense of humor. And I think it’s true :)

Anyway, we see all sorts and types of miracles. For example, last night we planned to have a lesson with one of our investigators and tell her that we wouldn’t be able to see her anymore because she is not reading or coming to church. After we said the prayer, the spirit just filled the room, and it was there for the whole lesson. I know we could all feel the spirit as we talked about faith. It was beautiful.

Today we are going to the fortress to an Egyptian art exhibit. Whoopie!! Then we are going to eat at a restaurant on the ocean - something we have never done before. Sorella Jones only has 3 more weeks here in italy :(

Next week we are going to Genova with a member named Deborah to eat sushi and maybe go to the Miro exhibit.

Time is flying. It is soooo weird to think about. Last Saturday I hit 7 months of being on a mission and I am still super confused by that because I feel like I received my mission call a month ago and then got here like a week ago.

You want to travel for 8 to 14 days? I’ve been thinking about it and I think I want to come home first for a week and then come back and tour with you guys. I don’t want to lug all my luggage around for that long and I want to go into the water. But I imagine we will start north in Milan and around that area for 4 days, then to Venice and Florence for 4 days, then to Rome for 4 days (where we can travel to Pompeii for the day and stuff) and then over to Greece for 5 days. I don’t know, that’s just a rough estimate. What are you guys thinking?

Anyways I love you allllllllllllllll so much.

Mom, dad, you guys are seriously so amazing.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Love, Sorella Mcnamara

P.S. I still haven’t sent your birthday card in the mail yet :(

"Today I have been a very bad bunny."

P.S.S. Thanks everyone for the pics of baby Colin. He IS the cutest.

Angela, I got your announcement! So cute!!

Quick question: What language is more useful, Cantonese or Mandarin?

What would be more useful in business or life? I am a little confused on that.

Thanks for the celebrity updates! They make me laugh!!!

September 12, 2012

ActionsHello, hello!

My companion and I are twins. We think and say the same things allll the time. I love her to death. I have never laughed so hard. Every day is a new adventure.

This week has definitely been the busiest week of my mission. As missionaries in Milan, we have a weekly goal of teaching 20 lessons (teach a principle, give an invite and say a prayer). This week we taught 29! Sorella Jones and I literally hadn’t talked from Thursday until Monday because we were just going and going and going. When we did have time to talk we would just laugh about how crazy our life is. And then we always find time to talk about how much we LOVE our missions. Seriously, I cannot describe how much I love being a missionary. There is nowhere else I would rather be. I think everyone in the world should serve a mission.

Crazy miracles keep happening as well. People are stopping us in the streets and wanting to meet with us. On Monday we went to Alessandria for zone meeting. On the way home, an older man came and sat by us and started asking us questions about our beliefs. We set an appointment up for the following day, which we didn’t htink would go through. But, the next day he showed up and wanted a Book of Mormon. Then later that night, we received a voicemail from him. He told us he had started reading the book, that he is very interested, and that he will see us in church at 9 am on Sunday. Cool!

Oh! We set a baptismal date with a woman named Rosanna! She is sooo funny and loves the gospel.

We had a barbecue with all the young single adults last Saturday night. It was a success! There were new converts, less actives, and investigators there. And everyone had a really good time. On Sunday I gave a talk on missionary work. I think it was okay.

Time is flying by too fast. Sorella Jones goes home in 3 weeks and I don’t want her to leave! I think part of the reason why time is flying is because we are having so much fun doing work, if that makes sense. We came to a conclusion that we both just love learning. So I teach her about history and art and she teaches me about French and Chinese. Oh by the way, every night we watch a church film in either French, Spanish, or Chinese. She wants to major in language and I want to learn Chinese so we have a grand old time. Also I know this sounds crazy but I started reading the Book of Mormon in Mandarin. I hope you are laughing because it’s ridiculous. But you would not believe how fun it is to sit down and decode the symbols. So far I can count to 100 and I recognize words like book, Lord, God, names, people, places, etc. (Never mind that I can’t even begin to pronounce anything.) It’s a beautiful language.

On Sunday after church, we went to a members house. The daughter, Joseline (who is 19), cooked us arroz and pollo (they are from Equador). It was DELISH. She is sooo amazing. She has the strongest testimony. In fact, she brought her friend to the BBQ last weekend and then we met with her yesterday. Basically, the ward is great.I love Savona.

I think we are planning on going to Genova next week with a member named Deborah. We will see!

Thank you for all the updates. I love all of you.

Love,

Sorella McHappy
